L’École Culinaire is pleased to present our cooking classes for the public. Called Kitchens with a Mission, these classes offer the opportunity to learn fun, innovative ways of preparing meals with the added bonus of a percentage of the price benefiting a local charity. Please join us for a cooking experience with polish, panache and some great recipes.

Bring your special someone to make aromantic meal for two and learn hands-on about the science of culinary romance. $50 per attendee. (20% of all proceeds will benefit Wellness Community of Greater St. Louis) 20% of all proceeds will benefit Judevine Center for Autism This is a "Hands-On" Event Jamaican & Caribbean Grilling Hands-On Friday | September 18, 2009 | 6 – 8 PM “No man is an island, Jack.” But everyone dreams about spending time on one. “Get your jerk on Mon!” Chef will guide you through the jerk sauces, rubs and complimentary side dishes for any perfect Jamaican festivities. $50 per attendee. (20% of all proceeds will benefit Judevine Center for Autism) 20% of all proceeds will benefit the Asian Center at the St. Louis County Library This is a "Hands-On" Event Bento Box Hands-On Friday | September 25, 2009 | 6 – 8 PM Think sushi is something which only comes from a master chef’s kitchen? Our chef will show you that anyone can make their own delicious sushi, tempura and perfect rice at home. $75 per attendee. (20% of all proceeds will benefit Asian Center at the St. Louis County Library) 20% of all proceeds will benefit Haven House This is a "Hands-On" Event Chicken with a Mission Hands-On Friday | November 6, 2009 | 6 – 8 PM Learn how to use not just part of the bird, but the whole bird. Understand the chicken, and how many meals just one will yield, how to roast a whole chicken, how to maintain moisture, proper cooking temperatures and ensure the best flavor in your bird. Most importantly, you will learn how to break down a whole “chickie” and utilize all of its parts like a professional chef. $50 per attendee. (20% of all proceeds will benefit Haven House)


20% of all proceeds will benefit Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation This is a "Hands-On" Event Making Baby Food at Home: Saturday | October 10, 2009 | 12 – 2 PM Making baby’s food at home, will not only give you total control over what is actually going into your baby’s food, but you will have a comforting sense of knowing that it is free of additives and free of preservatives. $50 per attendee. (20% of proceeds will benefit Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) 20% of all proceeds will benefit the Epilepsy Foundation This is a "Hands-On" Event Laminated Dough Hands-On Saturday | November 14, 2009 | 10 AM – 12 PM Bear claws, danishes, and crescent rolls…oh my! Chef will instruct hands-on how to make your own laminated doughs at home. With laminated dough you will learn to make limitless sweet concoctions. The only limitation is your own imagination. $50 per attendee. (20% of all proceeds will benefit Epilepsy Foundation) 20% of all proceeds will benefit Operation Food Search This is a "Hands-On" Event Restoration Soups and Stocks Hands-On Saturday | January 9, 2010 | 12 – 2 PM The crackle of a warm fire, snowflakes outside our windows... it is time for the comfort food of the season – soup! They say the measure of a great cook is the ability to make great soups. And nothing warms the stomach and soul more than a warm bowl of home made soup. Chef will instruct how to make your own easy and delicious soups and stocks from scratch. $50 per attendee. (20% of all proceeds will benefit Operation Food Search) 20% of all proceeds will benefit the Kilo Diabetes Foundation This is a "Hands-On" Event Diabetic Cooking: Friday | January 22, 2010 | 6 – 8 PM If you have type 1 or type 2 diabetes, you already know how hard it is to maintain a diabetic friendly diet. Or, perhaps you have been recently diagnosed with diabetes and have several questions about how to change your cooking habits. Chef will lead a hands-on class teaching how to prepare tasty and diabetic friendly meals. $75 per attendee. (20% of all proceeds will benefit the Kilo Diabetes Foundation) 20% of all proceeds will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association, St. Louis Chapter This is a "Hands-On" Event Cast-Iron Chef: Friday | February 5, 2010 | 6 – 8 PM This class will offer you our version of what it is like to compete like a Cast-Iron Chef. Our Chefs will lead two culinary teams in a battle to the finish. The “Secret Ingredient” will be revealed at the beginning of the competition. Dishes will be judged by culinary professionals and the winning team will be awarded YES CHEF! T-shirts as well as the glory of bragging rights! $75 per attendee. (20% of all proceeds will benefit Alzheimer’s Association) 20% of all proceeds will benefit NAMI of St. Louis This is a "Hands-On" Event Cook like a “Wise Guy” Hands-On Friday | February 26, 2010 | 6 – 8 PM Chef won’t be instructing how to cut garlic with a razor blade, but attendees will learn the fine art of Italian Soul food. Attendees will work with pasta, Italian cured meats and other “old world” temptations. $75 per attendee. (20% of all proceeds will benefit NAMI of St. Louis)

Chef instructor will not only give hands on instruction on knife skills but will also talk about what to look for in a good professional Chef’s Knife, how to properly sharpen your knives and proper care of your knife. Chef’s knives will be supplied to use in class, but attendees are also welcome to bring in their knife of choice from home. $30 per attendee. 20% of all proceeds will benefit the Center for Women in Transition This is a "Hands-On" Event Cooking for Dummies Hands-On Friday | March 19, 2010 | 6 – 8 PM Demystify the kitchen and defuse the fear and trepidation involved with cooking. Prove to your friends and family that you actually can boil water. Learn the difference between roasting, braising, blanching and other cooking techniques. $50 per attendee. (20% of all proceeds will benefit Center for Women in Transition) 20% of all proceeds will benefit the International Center This is a "Hands-On" Event “Shakalaka Baby!” Indian Cooking Hands-On Friday | April 23, 2010 | 6 – 8 PM Did you know that there is no word for curry in the whole Indian language including all of its dialects? So what’s in a curry? Chef will take you on a hands-on tour of all five regions of India, and it’s rich culinary culture. Learn hands on the delicate balance Indian flavors, seasonings and aromatics. $75 per attendee. (20% of all proceeds will benefit International Center) 20% of all proceeds will benefit Earthdance This is a "Hands-On" Event Zen Cooking: Food for the Soul Hands-On Friday | May 28, 2010 | 6 – 8 PM Feeling empty or perhaps too full? Chef will instruct on how to prepare a meal that will not only satisfy your appetite, but also the soul. $75 per attendee. (20% of all proceeds will benefit Earthdance) 20% of all proceeds will benefit Earthdance This is a "Hands-On" Event Protein & the Vegan: Two Worlds Collide Hands-On Friday | May 14, 2010 | 6 – 8 PM Are you thinking about becoming a vegan or a vegetarian? Are you concerned about receiving proper protein in your diet? Chef will enlighten all in this very informative hands-on class dealing specifically with preparing delicious vegan and vegetarian meals that are nutritionally balanced. $75 per attendee.

20% of all proceeds will benefit the Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments This is a "Hands-On" Event Short Order Chef Hands-On Saturday | July 25, 2009 | 10 AM – 12 PM Children and parents attending will learn how to prepare scrumptious and healthy breakfast foods beyond the normal early morning fare. “Toad in a hole,” brioche French toast and more! $50 for Parent and Child to attend with $20 per additional family member, a maximum of two children per adult. ( 20% of all proceeds will benefit Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments) 20% of all proceeds will benefit the Judevine Center for Autism This is a "Hands-On" Event Back to School Blues Hands-On Saturday | August 8, 2009 | 10 AM – 12 PM Our chef will teach parents and kids to make fun, delicious after-school snacks that are bound to get rid of those back to school “blues”. $50 for Parent and Child to attend with $20 per additional family member, a maximum of two children per adult. (20% of all proceeds will benefit Judevine Center for Autism) 20% of all proceeds will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation This is a "Hands-On" Event It’s the “Fabulous Pumpkin!” Pumpkin Carving Class Hands-On Saturday | October 17, 2009 | 12 – 2 PM Chef will demonstrate and instruct hands-on carving technique for your big orange friends. Sip some hot cocoa, have a seat on a hay bale and get to work on making your Halloween masterpiece! $25 for Parent and Child to attend with $5 per  additional family member, a maximum of two children per adult. (20% of all proceeds will benefit Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) 20% of all proceeds will benefit Lydia’s House This is a "Hands-On" Event Gingerbread House Decorating Hands-On Saturday | December 12, 2009 | 10 AM – 12 PM Bring the whole family to decorate your holiday gingerbread masterpiece. Learn icing technique hands-on, professional decorating tips from Chef and spend some quality time with your little ones during this hectic but happy time of year. $40 will cover one gingerbread house per parent and child pair. To add a house it is $10 for each additional child in the same family. Have no fear, Chef is here to add a new twist to your boring old lunches.
